Table 1 Number of significant differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differentially accumulated metabolites (DAMs) in the indicated lettuce cultivar at 1- and 7-days post inoculation (DPI) with either STm 14028s or O157:H7 when compared to mock-inoculated plants. The direction of change, up or down, is based on a Log2 fold change ≤ − 1 or ≥ 1 and p-value < 0.05. Adjusted p-values were used for DEGs. The number of DEGs with an assigned KEGG ontology (KO) protein ID are shown in the KO column. The number of dams included known and unknown metabolites.
